Russellville-Logan Co. Airport:
In 2011, 4M7 was the first general aviation airport in Ky. to add LED runway/taxi lights, GPS approach, and PAPI lights for runway 07/25.
Runway 07/25 is currently 4,500 feet in length and both taxiways and runway have been recently re-surfaced and marked. Our engineering firm Garver LLC is currently helping us to achieve another runway extension to total 5,000 feet. The airport board is generous in praise for the assistance of the FAA Memphis office noting that officials from Memphis attended the opening ceremony of the new Terminal Building back in 2009, and that they continue to be interested and supportive of improvements at the Russellville-Logan County Airport. Currently the airport is getting new surface around the hangars and we are hopeful for new hangars in the near future. If interested in being placed on a hangar interest list, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Airport Board members also credit some of their recent successes to a "fly around" to visit other airports and benchmark their operating practices. "We learned so much from Stuart Powell in Danville, as well as Glasgow, Greenville, and Harlan County. Actually, there were ten airports in all, and that was a great learning process for us.
